Witchy Woman

Last week I had my very first (and probably last) Partylite Candle Party. It was for the fall/holiday catalog so I thought I would set up some decorations for the party. I had so much fun getting ready. In the end about 20 ladies came over to par-tay. What a fun night for me!

I made this witch (with a little help from our friend and his jig saw)  it is supposed to have a broom in the raised hand but I didn't get a chance to purchase one before the party.  The lantern is solar powered so it flickers when it is dark!  It's amazing the things you can find on Martha Stewart's website.
Mike and I painted the pumpkins on top of the cabinets and I did the candy corn on the t.v. cabinet.
It's hard to see but these are the halloween blocks I made a few weeks ago at the scrapbook night.
And the food - can't have a party without snacks.  Thanks so much for everyone who came over.  What a hoot!

Way Back Wednesday

10 years ago this month Michael and I were engaged. He proposed to me on the beach in Half Moon Bay during a meteor shower. This pic was taken for our announcement, in front of the Stone's house - we thought we were so cool back then. I feel like such a lucky girl to be married to a man as wonderful as Michael. Whenever I ask him if he will do something for me he says "Absolutely!"   He is not only a  good example of what a loving spouse should be, he is an excellent example of a good priesthood holder.  We are so excited for our 10 year anniversary in December (although we have no idea what we are going to do for it yet, or what we can afford to do for it yet - with both of us in school...but no matter what we do I know it will be fun because I'll be with the man of my dreams!).

Back to School

Today, Tuesday August 25th, is Michael's first day of fall semester. He is working on his research this semester and taking anatomy (to help prep him for Medical Physics stuff). I am always so excited for the first day of school and love to take pictures of the departing student. I have pics from every semester. I am so proud of Michael for giving up a job he loved to go back to school and earn his Masters degree. I am a lucky girl!

No Pics for a While

So my dad is on vacation and asked to borrow our camera so we have been without it for almost a week. Wouldn't you know it that just when I don't have a way to take pictures I could have taken some awesome ones for the blog?  Michael and I went to the county fair on Monday night for FHE and we saw amazing animals, their was a HUGE goose (when I say HUGE I mean it looked like a dog - a big dog!) and we had the most wonderful time visiting all the exhibits.  I also spent a morning this week shucking corn from our stake's garden and freezing it.  I've been knitting and now have half of a pretty long scarf completed.  I made "Cheeseburger Soup" from a Taste of Home recipe a friend gave me and it was AWEOME.  Even Mike liked it and he doesn't really like any kind of soup.  I have the special task of mowing and edging the lawns while my dad is away (since the husband man is working so much right now - love those Almonds!) and I did a pretty great job if I do say so myself and it only took me 4 hours :).  Tonight is men's softball and Michael is getting home early from work - hopefully this unusually cold weather will not bring in rain that stops his games, he looks forward to softball all week.  Also, I went to the Farmer's Market this morning and picked up a few things.  That place is amazing, especially when it is nice and cool out like today.  I actually wore a sweater!!
